Truffle Hunting

Embark on a truffle adventure with us!

HIGHLIGHTS

Full Description of the tour

Truffle hunting is one of the most exciting and unique experiences for food enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking an adventure like no other. Whether you’re a first-time truffle hunter or a seasoned pro, joining this truffle hunting tour will open your eyes to the mysterious world of truffles, where the passion for gastronomy meets the beauty of the outdoors. This ultimate guide to truffle hunting will not only take you through the history and process of this centuries-old tradition but also provide insider tips on how to fully immerse yourself in this fascinating journey.

We’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation and take you to a charming Tuscan farmhouse where the hunt will take place. Here, together with an expert truffle hunter and his faithful four-legged companion, you’ll venture into the woods in search of this precious treasure.

It will be fascinating to observe the incredible bond between the hunter and his hunting companion. As they move through the forest, they work together to search for truffles. Our four-legged friend is a true forest detective! With a super-powered nose, more sensitive than any radar, he can sniff out a truffle from miles away! Imagine a treasure hidden underground and he, with his tail wagging frantically, is ready to show us exactly where to dig. It’s like having a personal metal detector, but much more gentle and loyal. Once he’s located the precious fungus, our dog becomes a little archaeologist! With enthusiasm, he digs and scratches with his paws, ready to reveal his precious find. Sometimes, however, caught up in the excitement, he might dig a little more than necessary and be faster than the hunter in getting the truffle for himself … but that’s all part of the fun!

After the thrill of the hunt, we will walk back to the farmhouse where a delicious truffle-based lunch awaits you. Your taste buds will be delighted by a delicious Tuscan appetizer, including a tasting of Tuscan olive oil, followed by a first course featuring black truffle. The meal will be paired with a fine glass of wine, a sweet treat, and coffee, just like in the best Italian tradition. Once you’ve been spoiled and pampered (and with full stomachs), you can choose to return to your hotel or continue your Tuscan adventure.

A unique experience you won’t easily forget!

The day starts with a drive through Tuscany, East to West, where we will pull right up Pisa’s “Piazza dei Miracoli” the location of the Cathedral (Duomo), Baptistery and famous leaning bell tower. Here you will have time to walk around this unique monumental area, take pictures and, if you are interested, climb the leaning tower and/or visiting the inside of other buildings such as the Baptistry, the Monumental Cemetery or the Cathedral.*

After the brief visit to Pisa, we will then drive to Lucca, where you will have lunch in a local restaurant and then have more free time for exploring one of the most historically important and rich cities of Tuscany. Completely surrounded by massive and thick city walls, Lucca is the birthplace of the great Italian composer Giacomo Puccini and it offers a wide variety of nice churches and monuments to visit. One of the most famous sights is the Guinigi tower, a medieval tower which can be immediately recognized by the presence of three oak trees at its very top. In Lucca, if you are interested, you could also visit the town center by renting a bike and cycling all around the city and on top of the city walls.

*Please note that while the Cathedral and the Baptistry are easily accessible even for last-minute visits, climbing the Leaning Tower requires a reservation to book a specific time slot. If you buy a ticket for climbing the Leaning Tower or visiting the Baptistry, free access to the Cathedral is guaranteed, no matter the season.

Here you can find all the useful information you need to know before booking for the Leaning Tower.
